Islam and Christianity
Formerly Christian Britain has
lately become one of the least religious countries
on earth. Free here not to take our own religion
seriously, we cannot adopt the same casual attitude
towards other people’s beliefs.
In Britain, Islam and other faiths held by
immigrants and descendants have not lost their fire
and passion. They know well their rites, rules and
scriptures.
There is much in Islam that Christians can affirm
– but also very significant areas of difference:
Islam says God reveals His Will but not HimSelf.
Abraham, Moses and Christ are all some of Islam’s
prophets.
Let us not forget that the rules and customs of
this (UK) island, from Coronation Oath to Common Law
are firmly based in Christian precepts.
The Jews have come from the Holocaust and forced
the world to respect them with their knowledge not
terror. (Yet terror-ism was surely in their actions
to obtain independence in 1948? author).
Islam says man’s spiritual need is not for a
saviour but for guidance.
Reform of Islam is impossible. It is therefore
incompatible with Christianity.
Most Muslims are not terrorists. Many reject the
actions of their Muslim brethren around the world.
Unfortunately since Islam teaches world domination,
these moderate Muslims rarely raise their voices in
protest.
Reform is against the very nature of the Koran as
understood by Muslims.
The Pope agrees with conservative Muslim clerics
that the teachings of the Koran cannot be modified
in any way.
Islam nowadays is the only major religion in
which violence is a serious doctrinal issue.
Palestinian violence against Israel is
universally condoned (in Islam).
Modern, Westernised, radical Muslims whose
version of Islam tosses out 1,300 years of
interpretation of law and the Koran, seek to
recreate the days of Muhammad (pbuh).
It is true that tribalised Catholics and
Protestants have only recently stopped killing each
other.
The history of Christianity is a history of
violence (verbal and physical) almost from the
start. It is hard to say when Christianity ceased to
be violent.
No-one suggests that Islamic violence should not
be opposed, but a touch of humility might be in
order from Christianity.
Truth is uncomfortable, it cuts like a sword.
Jesus has a sword, it is the sword of the spirit
which is the word of God.
Islam seeks to integrate laws of the Koran into
all elements of social life.
Madrasah means (Koran) School or learning centre.
It arose as a separate entity after meetings in
mosques in later periods of Islam, to benefit from
excellence.
The world’s Muslims have descended into a vortex
of self-pity.
In lands where Muslims rule and Christians are in
a minority, the message from the mosques is ‘God did
not have a Son’.
For years liberals in the West have spread the
myth of ‘Muslim tolerance’. It does not exist and
never did.
Christians had a model to follow, the Koran was
imposed rigidly with no distinction between civil
and religious law.
If the Pope knew what he was doing, it indicated
the Papacy is no longer prepared to tip-toe around
Muslim sensitivities.
We in the West should be more realistic in
dealing with a resurgent Islam.
The West is facing a massive crisis, economic but
fundamentally political and social.
History will judge Europe’s decline – great
civilisations die not from external force majeure
but because internally the Will to thrive is sapped.
The immigration en masse to Europe of Muslims can
be seen as a (unintended) consequence of post-WWII
guest-worker programmes. |
