This site offers a brief over-view, through many ‘public’ voices

This Part II site – through its ‘Everyman’ viewpoints – explores the words of others in Quotes and Panel texts on the tense situation which has developed between Islam, Muslims and the (Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Sikh and other) West.

In this ‘overview’ or ‘insight’ approach, some offerings are ‘received wisdom’ and predictable; some unexpected, surprising (reflecting the theatre of the absurd, which the modern situation seems to display more and more); and some seem full of common sense, so truthful a reflection, both slipping away fast (in these days of seemingly increasing confusion); and some give Hope.

Let’s spell out what you will find in this site. There are six ‘Chapters’ involving nine sections for you to navigate. They contain fairly concise ‘Quotes’ and longer ‘Panels’.

Some indications of sources are given, but not all. Please accept that this is not a leisurely and erudite scholars’ lengthy personal dissertation. All offerings have been culled from newspaper reports and articles, broadcasts, books and of course, websites.

In the voice of the people you will surely find the simplistic, the prejudiced; but many will reflect eternal human common sense (hopefully based on the best of a nation’s historic cultural influence infused within you?) They will surely broaden your viewpoint?

Note that Quotes and Panels are not in some subjective order of importance.

Exact categorising of these Quotes and Panel texts proves very difficult, as many could easily fit into two of more of the Chapter ‘subjects’.

Also, you may well find diametrically opposed theories, opinions or beliefs just following on, one after another, with even a little repetition.

So please just take what you value from the glimpses, insights, questions they offer and raises attraction in you (and do not look suspiciously for some kind of author’s machiavellian machinations. They ain’t there, mate).

I just hope many of the ‘observations’ may stop you in your tracks. Some might be a turning point for you, modifying, opening, broadening your view of the subject, Islam and the West, its violent confrontation, its peaceful possibilities?

While this site’s offerings are often drawn, succinctly I hope, from lengthy articles and public comments, there is today a rich, so informative world out there: hard print Press, multi-channel television and the ethereal 24/7 Internet.

There you will find in-depth reportage, ‘great intellects offering wisdom’ and scholarly articles to help you expand your understanding further, as I hope you seek.

Here, this site gives you glimpses only. It always has been the intent.
